The mosque you see is the historic Shah Shuja Mosque in Comilla. Shah Shuja Mosque has been standing in its glory for 352 years in Comillaz district.
There are differences of opinion regarding the naming of this mosque, the name of the founder and the date of establishment. However, there is no doubt that this mosque is one of the oldest mosques in the Indian subcontinent.
This mosque was built at Moghlatuli in Comilla city on the banks of Gomti river. However, at present the river Gomti flows at a distance of at least 1 km. Although this mosque is not very big in terms of size, its culture, history, tradition and overall appearance bear the symbol of nobility.
The exterior workmanship of this mosque proves that the great devotion and taste of its founders towards the Creator at that time. A symbol of tradition and nobility, Mughaltuli Shah Sooja Mosque is not mentioned in the actual year of its establishment, but it is believed that this mosque was built in 1658 AD.
