The Dhaka Times Desk All educational institutions of school and college level are opening on September 12. Due to the long one and a half year closure, the van drivers associated with the school were living an inhumane life. Now they are back to peace.
Due to the outbreak of Corona, all educational institutions of the country have been closed for one and a half years since the middle of March 2020. Educational institutions were declared closed till September 11 after extending the holiday several times. However, from September 12, it was decided not to extend this holiday at the school and college level and it was announced to open schools and colleges on September 12. That is why the teaching program of students is going to start again from that day. The government took this decision as the country's corona situation improved a lot.
Meanwhile, due to the closure of the schools, especially the van drivers associated with the schools were living an inhumane life. Many people choose to sell tea in kettles due to lack of money. Keo also works as a rickshaw driver. Sometimes they have to go with relief aid. In short, they were living an inhumane life. These van drivers used to transport small students especially in the city center schools including the capital Dhaka. It was their job to deliver the students to school every morning and bring them back from the school when it was a holiday and deliver them to their homes. Their family lived with what they got by doing this work. But after the outbreak of Corona, schools were closed last year and they became unemployed.
Although at present, except for the fifth class, classes from one to four will be held only one day. Still, they might find a way to go. Because these vans usually transport children of small classes. That is] these van drivers work to pick up students from KG one to six or seven.
Despite all this, they are feeling relieved with the news of school opening again. Their only hope is that their bread and sustenance will be provided.
