The Dhaka Times Desk Once upon a time listening to mobile ringtones was very popular among the young generation. But with the passage of time that picture has now changed. A large section of the younger generation now prefers to keep their phones on silent mode. But why?
Naturally, the question arises why the young generation has moved away from the appeal of ringtones? Sensor Tower, a UK-based mobile app analyst firm, surveyed this question.
The name of the survey is 'Generation Mute'. For this survey, the organization interviewed young people between the ages of 16 and 24.
The results of the survey show that in 2016, the number of ringtone downloads among the youth was 46 lakh. In 2020, that number decreased to 37 lakh.
But in 2004 this number was 4 crore. A 2017 survey found that only 15 percent of 16- to 24-year-olds thought ringtones were necessary for communication. However, the current number has also decreased.
The results of the survey also revealed that the younger generation currently uses e-mail and messaging methods for communication. They prefer to communicate in silence. That's why they don't need loud sounds like ringtones on mobiles. And that's why they are keeping mobile phones silent.
The younger generation spends a large part of the day on the phone screen. That's why it's easy to see what's coming on the phone. That's why they keep the phone silent all the time without using ringtone.
Now in the field of communication, various types of apps including Messenger, WhatsApp are used. In that case, there is no need for a ringtone on the phone.
