Kuwait allows women to join the army

On Tuesday, Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah decided on behalf of his ministry that the country's long-standing ban on Kuwaiti women joining the military would be lifted.

Kuwaiti women can now register to join the Kuwaiti army. Now all Kuwaiti women who join the army will have the opportunity to work at the basic level of the military's medical and other military support departments.

Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah said, Kuwaiti women have already shown their capabilities in various fields. Following this, Kuwaiti women are allowed to serve in the army alongside men.

He also said that he believed that Kuwaiti women would be able to withstand the pressure of hard work in the army.
