The woman's name and mobile number were added to a website called 'Call Girl'. Then hundreds of people started calling him every day.
The victim woman said, 'My laptop was turned off, I couldn't even logout anything. After fixing them, auto turns on. He then took the scanned copy of my passport, copy of voter id card, my wedding photo and other important files. He then demanded money from me, or threatened to spread it through various channels.'
Finally, when the woman contacted the cyber crime division of the DB, the detectives arrested a man named Chanchal Saha. It is known that the person has been harassing many women in this way.
DMP's Cyber and Special Crime Deputy Commissioner of Police Muhammad Shariful Islam told the media, 'We initially learned that he (the device repair person) used to look for personal pictures and videos after repairing the mobiles or laptops that were given to him. If something like this was found in those devices, blackmail was sent to the victim's acquaintances' mobiles from anonymously registered WhatsApp accounts.'
In this regard, the detectives said, 'There is no need to make such pictures or videos that can be used to blackmail people. However, the individual must take responsibility for keeping the photos or videos very private. If a device is damaged or is about to be damaged, it is advised to log out from everything connected through social media from that device.'
