According to a report, the name of the rickshaw driver is Pratap Singh. He lives in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India.
After receiving the notice, Pratap went to the income tax office and met the officials. They were also surprised to see the income tax evasion of the rickshaw puller. After the investigation, the incident of fraud came out.
The original PAN card of the rickshaw puller was confiscated. Those who did this registered the card under GST. However, fraudsters kept their names in GST. In one year under that GST (FY 2018-19) the turnover is about 43 crore 44 lakh rupees!
Due to MoU between Income Tax and GST both departments share information with each other. On receiving this information, the Income Tax Department found the case suspicious. The reason is that returns were not being filed despite the huge amount of turnover.
Notices were sent to PAN card holders in February 2020. Many notices were sent but did not reach the rickshaw puller. Then when a final notice was sent, it was received by the rickshaw puller. After looking into the matter, the real information comes to the fore.
