The media reported that there are 160,000 Muslims living in Hebron, with 500 Jews living there illegally. The traditional mosque for these illegal residents is closed every year for Jewish holidays. In 2017, the city of Hebron, including the Ibrahimi Mosque, was declared a World Heritage Site.

The Ibrahimi Mosque was closed to Muslims as the Jews claimed that the Jews would be celebrating the Sukkot festival in that area. If the worshipers come to pray during the festival, their celebration will also be disrupted.

The ancient city of Hebron is best known as a holy site for both Muslims and Jews. The followers of both religions believe that the graves of three prophets Hazrat Ishaq (a.s.), Yaqub (a.s.) and Hazrat Ibrahim (a.s.) are there.

It should be noted that barbaric Jews entered the mosque and killed 29 worshipers in 1994. Since then, the mosque has designated separate spaces for Muslim and Jewish worshippers.
