Even though the Eid holiday is less this time, Jamaat's 48-hour hartal started before the end of Eid. As a result, most of the people are stuck in the village house after Eid. At the end of the strike, the highways have become very untidy due to the pressure of people heading to Dhaka. The car broke down on the Dhaka-Tangail highway and caused a 70 km long traffic jam. Due to the long traffic jams on the highways, Dhaka-bound passengers are suffering endlessly.
It has been reported that thousands of commuters returning to work on Eid are facing endless suffering as a result of long traffic jams on the Dhaka-Tangail highway and Bangabandhu Bridge access road covering an area of about 70 km. Sources of bus passenger transport workers said that the traffic jam has been created since late night on Thursday. The traffic jam has extended beyond 20 km of Chandra-Gazipur-Jaidebpur and 15 km of Chandra-Bypail-Navinagar road beyond the Dhaka-Tangail highway. An official of Pabna Express said that due to the traffic jam of the last two days, their bus schedule is not correct. That is why it is not possible to say for sure what time the bus will go.
The traffic jam was caused when 4/5 cargo trucks and a BRTC bus broke down on the side of the highway in Kortia, Jamurki, Gokai and Cadet College and Kaliakoi areas last night. Heavy traffic jams were seen on both sides of the highway. Mirzapur Thana Police, Basail Thana Police, Delduar Thana Police, Tangail Sadar Thana Police, Kalihati Thana Police and Highway Thana Police are trying to clear the traffic jam.
As a result of the traffic jam, commuters returning to work on Eid are facing unbearable suffering. Especially children, women and old people are suffering more due to traffic congestion.
In this regard, Jobaidul Alam, OC of Gogai Highway Police of Mirzapur, said that a bus broke down on the Kaliakair bridge around 2 o'clock on Thursday night. As a result, there is a traffic jam on both sides of the highway from Elenga to Chandra in Gazipur, which is about 70 kilometers long. After an hour, the damaged bus was removed from the bridge, but the traffic jam could not be brought under control. He expressed hope that traffic on this road will be normal by Saturday.
