Now a young man sat on hunger strike in front of his in-laws to take his married wife back home. This incident happened in Kathambari area of Malbazar subdivision of Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India.
According to Indian media, the wife moved to the father's house with the child due to family turmoil. The husband became mentally upset with the thought. His wife refuses to marry despite hundreds of requests. Her husband was forced to sit on hunger strike in front of his in-laws.
According to media reports, the name of the young man who is on hunger strike is Haridas Mandal. This time he also put a poster on his back. There was also a picture of the child. It read, 'My wife wants me back. '
The young man Haridas claimed that he got married to Jyotsna Mondal, a resident of Kathambari area, four years ago. Their only daughter is now one and a half years old. At first everything was fine. But for more than a year, turmoil started in their family.
Haridas Mondal said that the in-laws fueled the turmoil in his and Jyotsna's family. Then his wife came to the father's house with the little girl. His wife is not returning home with her daughter due to pressure from her in-laws. Even if he came to take back his wife and children again and again, he had to return empty-handed. So he is forced to sit on hunger strike. Haridas said, 'I am willing to die for that. '
On the other hand, Jyotsna Mandal denied the husband's complaint and said, I do not want to live with Haridas in any way. Swami Haridas physically abused me. That's why I came to my father's house. It's not my parents' fault.
Jyotsna Mandal also said, Haridas stayed at my father's house for some time. Here too he used to come and beat me after drinking alcohol. So I decided not to live with my husband. I cannot tolerate torture like this. I will stay at my father's house with my little daughter. But the husband has to pay the expenses of me and daughter.
Locals said that Haridas fasted till midnight in extreme cold. Then Haridas broke his fast late at night with the assurance of police and local panchayat member.
