Scientists claim: robots capable of reproduction!

CNN reported this information and said that scientists have named this robot Xenobots after African frogs. Scientists claim that even if this robot can breed, its reproduction method is completely different from that of plants or animals.

Scientists have said that this robot has been formed from the stem cells of an African species of frog called Xenopus laevis. The robot is less than half a millimeter in length.

The study involved researchers from the University of Vermont, Tufts University and Harvard University's Oasis Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. Sam Kriegman, a scientist working with researchers from these three universities, said, 'We tried to find out what kind of work this small robot can do. We found that it can also do the job of cleaning utensils.'

How will this robot breed?

In this regard, University of Vermont computer science professor and robotics expert Josh Bongard said, in the creation of xenobots, stem cells are isolated from frog embryos and given a suitable environment for reproduction. However, no genetic modification was introduced. Apparently, it is able to work on its own. This spherical robot made using 3,000 cells is capable of reproduction. In other words, xenobots are both robots and organisms, claims scientist Josh Bongard.
