Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute Associate Professor Tanveer Ahmed told BBC Bangla that the electricity generated by lightning was ultra-high-voltage. Lightning is generally of two types. It can be direct on someone, and it can also be lightning over a large area.
Tanveer Ahmed said, if someone is struck by lightning directly, then he gets burnt immediately. The voltage in lightning is very high, ranging from 10 thousand to million. If lightning strikes trees, electric poles, tall buildings or towers in some areas, ultra-low-duration electricity can be generated from there. At this time, if there is anyone around, electricity enters and exits his body quickly.
A warning from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief regarding lightning has said that anyone injured by lightning should be treated in the same way as a patient injured by electric shock. If someone is injured by lightning, try to restore breathing and heartbeat. If an injured person can be given artificial respiration within a few minutes, he can be saved.
Tanveer Ahmed said, even though many were injured by lightning, their hearts stopped and they died instantly. Some people's heart stops a little and starts again. Many of those who were taken to hospital survived.
He also said that if the injured person's heart is active then CPR should be given to him as soon as possible. But in this case one must have an idea about CPR. The person's heart must be kept going by CPR. He should be taken to the hospital quickly by ambulance or car. There is nothing to fear in touching or touching an injured or dead person. Because, there is no electricity in his body.
