The Dhaka Times Desk The London High Court has ordered the ruler of Dubai to pay 750 million dollars in the judgment of the divorce case between Princess Haya bint Al-Hussein and the Prime Minister of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Makhtoum.
The Dubai ruler was ordered to pay £750 million in child support to his ex-wife and two children.
The court said the bulk of the money must be paid to Princess Haya bint Al-Hussein, half-sister of Jordan's King Abdullah, and the couple's two children to ensure lifelong security. The court ordered Sheikh Mohammed to pay about $300 million within 3 months in the first installment for the maintenance of the High British palace.
In April 2019, Haya fled Dubai with her two children and took refuge in the UK. Later, he filed a case against Al-Maktoum for multiple demands including custody of the children, financial compensation. These cases have cost him about 7 million pounds.
In that judgment, the court said that they found the basis of the truth of the allegations. It revealed that Sheikh Mohammed also planned to kidnap his other two children, Princess Latifa and Princess Shamsa. Later they were kidnapped from the streets of Cambridge and Haya was regularly threatened.
Using NSO Group's Pegasus spyware, he hacked the phones of five associates, including Haya and her two lawyers. At that time the couple was in the midst of court proceedings.
The Sheikh's agents also tried to buy a £30m property next door to the Higher Berkshire home, which could be considered a 'significant threat to security'.
