A dog found the rapist and murderer by sniffing!

The Dhaka Times Desk The case of a dog sniffing out a criminal may not be new. But this is probably the first case of finding the rapist. And this incident happened in India.

It is known that a dog found a man accused of rape and murder in Maharashtra, India. A dog named Oscar from the bomb disposal unit of Maharashtra's Raigad division led the police to track down the accused.

According to the Times of India, the dog named Oscar was able to detect the killer by smelling a wooden plank used in the murder. This specially trained dog goes to the cowshed and hunts down the accused.

Raigad police constable Darshan Sawant said that Oscar was smelled of a wooden plank used in the murder. Then he entered a cowshed to smell the scent. This is how he helps us track down the accused in the murder.

The constable also said that Oscar is now three years old. He was only 7 months old when he came to us. He was trained for 9 months in Pune to become a detective dog.

Oscar also assisted in a murder case last February. At that time the scent of a pair of scissors used to kill the dog was sniffed. The killer was arrested from a hut in the field on the basis of that smell.

Regarding the incident in Maharashtra, India, the police said that the accused killer has been remanded after tracking him down. The incident is being further investigated.
