In a statement, the agency said, thousands of children from Afghanistan to Yemen and Syria to Ethiopia are suffering from armed conflict, inter-communal violence and extreme insecurity.

Since 2005, more than 28,500 children have been killed in war-torn Afghanistan, UNICEF said in the report. Afghanistan has the highest number of child casualties as a single country.
