The Dhaka Times Desk The High Court ordered on Monday (February 7) canceling Zayed Khan's candidature and suspending Nipun's post as general secretary.
Actress Nipun appealed to the Appellate Division of the High Court on Tuesday (February 8) seeking a stay of this High Court order. The appeal hearing will be held tomorrow, Wednesday.
Nipun's lawyer said on Monday that an appeal will be made to the Appellate Division against the order of the High Court. On Monday, Zayed Khan filed an appeal before the High Court bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khondkar Diliruzzaman challenging the decision to cancel his candidature and declare Nipun as General Secretary.
It is to be noted that the Appellate Division related to the election of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association canceled the candidature of Zayed Khan who won the general secretary post in the preliminary results of the elections for the 2022-24 term of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
That's why he lost his post. Election Appeal Board Chairman Sohanur Rahman Sohan announced this decision after a meeting on Saturday evening. At the same time, heroine Nipun has been declared uncontested winner.
The new committee including Nipun has already taken oath. Misha Saudagar attended the swearing-in ceremony even though none of the winners of the Misha-Zayed panel came. He administered the oath to the newly elected President Ilyas Kanchan.
