1,119 civilians killed in Ukraine: UN

The Dhaka Times Desk Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 1 thousand 119 civilians have been killed.

At least 1,790 more civilians were injured in the attack by Russian troops. Yesterday (March 27) the United Nations Human Rights Office gave this information. Indian news media NDTV has given this information in a report.

In a statement, the United Nations said that 15 teenage girls and 32 young men were among those killed in the war in Ukraine. In addition, 52 children lost their lives, whose gender is still unknown.

The United Nations reported that the casualties occurred in Ukraine from the day of the Russian invasion on February 24 to midnight on March 26. The agency also said the actual number of casualties is expected to be much higher.

It is also noted that intense fighting is still going on in some regions of Ukraine, which is why statistics for those areas are not available. In particular, the UN said that there are no images of casualties around the besieged port city of Mariupol in the southern part of the country, Izium in the Kharkiv region, Volnovakha in the Donetsk region, Popasna and Rubizhne in the Luhansk region, and Trostianet in the Sumy region.
