A black box is a device that records all events from the start of an aircraft flight to landing. It is also called the 'Flight Data Recorder' of the aircraft. For safety reasons, the black box is placed at the back of the normal aircraft. It is mainly made of titanium metal and enclosed in a titanium box.

The real history of the black box

Flight data recorder

This box contains various information about flight direction, altitude, speed, fuel, turbulence and cabin interior. It can also record 88 different types of data for about 25 hours.

This box is capable of withstanding temperatures of about 11,000 degrees Celsius for one hour and 260 degrees Celsius for 10 hours. These boxes are red or pink in color so that they are easy to find.

Cockpit voice recorder

This box records all sounds that occur in the aircraft during the last two hours. It records sounds from engines, cabins, emergency alarms and cockpits to provide a complete forecast of aircraft conditions before an accident occurs.

This is how the black box works

The black box is made of a strong metal. It can work up to 30 days without any electricity. It is capable of withstanding temperatures of 11,000 degrees Celsius. If the box is lost somewhere, it can vibrate and make a loud noise for about 30 days. Investigators could detect this voice from about 2/3 km away.

One amazing thing about the black box is that it can emit waves from 14,000 feet below the sea surface!

However, the black box cannot reflect the whole picture of the plane crash. However, important information is also available in some accidents. But there is no doubt that it plays an important role in the investigation of air accidents.
