Last Monday (April 25, 2022) at the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka, these things were informed in a meeting between Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexandra Berg von Linde and President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) Russell T Ahmed.
The Swedish Ambassador appreciated the progress of the Bangladesh IT sector in technology in the last few years and suggested spreading its success stories abroad. He hoped that cooperation between the private sector in the information technology sector would secure the mutual interests of both countries.
BASIS President Russell T Ahmed highlighted the series of meetings between the two countries' sector stakeholders and invited the Swedish delegation to attend BASIS SoftExpo 2022 to experience how Bangladesh has transformed into a hub for the IT sector.
In the meeting, Russell T Ahmed said that Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared information technology as the 'year product' of 2022. In line with this, BASIS focuses on the seven pillars of building future-proof human resources, developing local industries, expanding overseas markets, increasing capital and financial incentives, creating a rich ecosystem for startups, creating policies to support the growth of intangible assets and promoting the IT sector. ICT has started working towards excellence in the industry.
Ambassador of Sweden Alexandra Berg von Linde spoke about the branding of Bangladesh's IT sector in her country. He expressed optimism that Sweden's information technology entrepreneurs would be interested in joining BASIS SoftExpo 2022 at the BASIS President's call.
