The Dhaka Times Desk Pope Francis has called a meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin in an effort to end the war in Ukraine. But he did not get a response.

Pope Francis said this in an interview on Tuesday (May 3). In a report this information was given by the American media Voyage of America.
The pope also told Italian daily Corrie della Sera that Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, who has supported the war in Ukraine, "cannot be Putin's assistant."
Francis told the newspaper that about three weeks into the war, he asked the Vatican's top diplomat to send a message to Putin about setting up a meeting.
"We have not yet received any response and we are still trying," Pope said.
He also said, “I fear that Putin cannot and does not want to hold this meeting at this time. But how can you not stop such brutality?”
Francis also said that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told him that Putin plans to end the war on May 9. Russia commemorates the surrender of Nazi Germany on this day in 1945 as Victory Day.
