Gaffar Chowdhury is laid to rest through tributes from all levels

The Dhaka Times Desk Eminent journalist, writer, columnist and composer of Ekush's immortal song Abdul Ghaffar Chowdhury was laid to rest next to his wife in Mirpur Shahid Intellectual Cemetery.

Today, Saturday (May 28) around 5:30 pm, he was buried at Mirpur Shaheed Intellectual Cemetery.

Abdul Ghaffar Chowdhury's body was taken to Dhaka University Central Mosque after people from all walks of life paid their respects at Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday. There, the first funeral was held around 3:30 p.m.

Later, when his body was taken to the National Press Club, another funeral was held at 4:70 PM after journalists paid their respects to him.

Then at 5:30 pm his body was taken to Mirpur Shaheed Intellectual Cemetery and buried.

It is known that according to the last wish of Abdul Ghaffar Chowdhury, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has arranged to bury him next to his wife's grave in Mirpur Shaheed Intellectual Cemetery.

Earlier, the plane carrying the body of Abdul Ghaffar Chowdhury arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport at 11:05 PM. On behalf of the government, the Minister of Liberation War A. K. M. Mozammel Haque received the body there.

A guard of honor was given to his body at 1:13 pm. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, party's joint general secretary Bahauddin Nashim, presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nonak and many others were present at this time.

It is to be noted that Abdul Ghaffar Chowdhury, the composer of the song 'Amar Bhai's blood dyed Ekushe Februari, Aami ki Bhulite Pari', passed away on May 19 while undergoing treatment at Barnet Hospital in London.
