The Dhaka Times Desk Facebook is updating their privacy policy. It will be effective from July 26.
Users will see a personal privacy policy update (Privacy Policy Update) message upon logging into their Facebook account. This new notification is being sent by Meta, the parent company of Facebook.
Meta says Facebook has rewritten its privacy policy. This policy will be easier for Facebook users to understand. From now on it will be more clear to the users how the Facebook authorities use the user information. Users of Facebook, Instagram and Messenger will see the difference between the previous policy and the updated policy. It will be effective from July 26.
Previously, the Facebook authorities had to face various criticisms regarding Facebook's privacy policies. This organization has to face the pressure of the regulatory agencies of different countries regarding the use of customer information.
This updated policy applies only to Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and other meta services. This will not apply to WhatsApp, Workplace, Free Basics, Messenger Kids and Quest devices. These services also have their own privacy policies.
Changes coming in the updated policy
Meta says that in the updated policy, they will not be allowed to collect, use or exchange user data. There will also be two changes to the way we control how user data is processed. There will also be a new user-controlled setting to control who can see posts and who can't. In addition, there will be new ways to manage the ads that users want to see.
Meta said in a blog post that information about their data usage practices and new services will be presented to users with more detailed examples.
