The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh's famous and popular actress Sharmili Ahmed was laid to rest in the capital's Banani cemetery. He was buried at the end of the second Janaza after Asr prayers on Friday (July 8).
Sharmili Ahmed's first Janaza was held at Uttara Sector 11 Mosque after Friday prayers.
Sharmili Ahmed's real name is Majeda Mallik. He was born on May 8, 1947 in Rajshahi. He was an artist of Rajshahi Betar. His first movie 'Thikana' which was made in Urdu language was never released. In the 60s, she made a name for herself as an actress in Subhash Dutt's 'Alingan', 'Ayna O Zani' and 'Abirbhaav'. Sharmili Ahmed also acted in some Urdu movies.
She also acted in her husband director Rupkar's (Rakibuddin Ahmed) movie 'Palatak'. After independence, Sharmili Ahmed acted in movies like 'Rupali Saiket', 'Agun', 'Dahan', etc. She first acted as a mother in the movie 'Agun'. From then on, she played the role of mother in cinema-drama till the end. Sharmili Ahmed has also acted in more than four hundred dramas.
He has a daughter. Actress Waheeda Mallick Jolly is his younger sister.
It should be noted that Sharmili Ahmed died at his home at 8:30 am on Friday. It is known that actress Sharmili Ahmed was suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment. He has already undergone 29 chemotherapy treatments. In the meantime, he went to the land of no return.
