The Dhaka Times Desk How much can a month's electricity bill be at the household level! But if you suddenly see, the bill is more than 3.5 thousand crore rupees. Then it is natural to be surprised!
Such an incident happened to an old man in India. He had to be admitted to the hospital due to severe emotional shock due to the mistake of the electricity office.
Priyanka Gupta, a resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, India, received an electricity bill of Rs 3,419 crore last June! Priyanka's father-in-law fell ill after seeing that bill. However, Madhya Pradesh government-run power company has already amended the bill citing 'human error'. His new bill was only Rs 1,300.
Priyanka's husband Sanjeev Kankane told the media that her father fell ill after seeing the huge electricity bill, which forced him to be admitted to the hospital. He said that on July 20, they were issued an electricity bill of Rs 3,419 crore. It was then cross-verified on the portal of Madhya Pradesh Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Distribution Company (MPMKVVC) and was shown correct there as well. But later it was revised to Rs 1,300 only.
MPMKVVC General Manager Nitin Manglik blamed 'human error' and announced action against the staff involved. He also said an employee entered the customer number instead of the unit used in the software, resulting in a hefty bill. After knowing the matter, it was rectified and a bill of Rs. 1,300 was given to the customer.
In this regard, Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar told reporters that the error has been rectified and action is being taken against the concerned employee.
