The mosque you see in the picture is a historical mosque. Islam spread in Bangladesh started from this mosque.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in 570 AD. After only 50 years, Islam came to Bangladesh in 620 AD! The journey begins in the northern district of Lalmonirhat!
Such claims have been strengthened by various studies and inscriptions found. It can be seen that the country's first mosque was also built in 690 AD in the village called 'Majder Ara' of Panchagram Union of this district. In 1987, the ruins of this ancient mosque were found during forest excavation in Panchagram.
One of its bricks is inscribed with Kalema Tayyiba and 69 Hijri. From this, it is assumed that the mosque was established or renovated around 69 Hijri i.e. 690 AD. It is known from the history book of Rangpur district that Abu Waqqas (R.A.), the maternal uncle of the Prophet (S.A.), cousin of Ma Ameena, preached Islam in Bangladesh from 620 to 626 AD (p. 126).
It is believed by many that he also built the mosque of Panchagram which was renovated in 690 AD. The first and oldest mosque in the country is 21 feet north-south and 10 feet wide. Inside this mosque there is a space of 4 feet width for a queue. There are octagonal pillars at the four corners of this mosque. The spire and dome of the mosque can be found from the ruins.
There is also a detailed description of this mosque in the book 'Rangpure Dini Dawat' written by Matiur Rahman Basunia. Although there is an idea that 'Ikhtiyar Uddin Mohammad Bin Khilji spread Islam in the country', these facts prove that Islam was spread in this country long before that.
