The Dhaka Times Desk Russia is preparing for a protracted war in Ukraine. The US-based think tank Institute for the Study of War (ISW) published this information.
According to Al-Jazeera's live report on Saturday (13 August), Ukraine's Chief Intelligence Directorate (GUR) said that the Kremlin had begun the 'industrial mobilization' of defense initiatives as early as August this year. Some employees and the entire leadership of Russian state-owned industrial company Rostec have been banned from vacation.
The GUR also reported that the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation, chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are also preparing to change the state budget as early as September to increase industrial spending by nearly $10 billion to boost war capabilities.
It should be noted that on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine. Since then, the conflict between the two countries has been going on for 171 consecutive days. There have also been reports of many casualties on both sides. However, there are no signs of an end to the war. On the contrary, the conflict between the two countries has increased in eastern Ukraine.
