The Dhaka Times Desk Cheating in exams is nothing new. However, the modern era has made cheating easier. So this time the Internet was closed to avoid cheating in the exam!
One such incident happened in Assam, India. Candidates have started appearing for a major recruitment exam to fill 27 thousand government posts in various departments in the state. The state government has suspended mobile internet services around the centers during the examination to ensure that candidates do not cheat in the examination.
According to an NDTV news, the exam was part of the largest recruitment in the state. Around 14 lakh students are expected to appear in this exam. It is learned that internet service will not be available in all the districts where the examination is being held.
The country's government also said that Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) would be invoked. The reason is that strict security measures are taken at every exam center.
As part of the examination rules, candidates as well as invigilators are strictly prohibited from carrying mobile phones or any other electronic gadgets in the examination center. The officer-in-charge of each examination center is also directed to video the examination center.
Ahead of the exam, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma also held a virtual meeting with the District Commissioner and other officials to ensure smooth conduct of the exam. In the meeting, the Chief Minister told the officials that there should be absolutely no complacency while conducting the examination.
It is said that the first phase of examination to fill up Grade-3 and Grade-4 posts in the country will be held on August 21, August 28 and September 11.
