Saqlain Mushtaq returns as bowling coach

The Dhaka Times Desk Saqlain Mushtaq is rejoining the Bangladesh team as a special spin coach in October. Saqlain, who left Bangladesh immediately after the tour of Zimbabwe, is now coming with a 100-day contract. Earlier, Saqlain wanted to be a full time bowling coach of Bangladesh.

Saqlain is very busy now. Recently doing spin specialist for Windies team for 3 weeks. After that, he will have to run again to participate for the Bangladesh team. In October, the Bangladesh team will play two Tests, three ODIs and a T20I against New Zealand.

গত বছর প্রধান কোচ রাইকার্ড পাইবাস পদত্যাগ করলে বাংলাদেশের বোলিং কোচ জার্গেনসেন পূর্ণ কোচের দায়িত্বে আবির্ভূত হয়, সে সময় বাংলাদেশের বোলিং কোচ হিসেবে স্বল্পমেয়াদী চুক্তিতে সাক্ষর করেন সাকলাইন মুশতাক। এই সময়ে তিনি মূলত কাজ করেছেন সোহাগ গাজী’র বোলিং নিয়ে, যার ফলাফল সোহাগ গাজী দিয়েছেন ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে তাঁর অভিষেক সিরিজেই বাজিমাত করে! পুরো সিরিজে তাঁর বোলিংয়ের বিপক্ষে দাঁড়াতেই পারেননি বিধ্বংসী ব্যাটসম্যান হিসেবে পরিচিত ক্রিস গেইল। এছাড়াও অভিষেক ওয়ানডে ম্যাচেও তিনি নিয়েছেন ২৪ রানের বিনিময়ে ৪টি উইকেট। সাকলাইনের সংস্পর্শে আব্দুর রাজ্জাক এবং সাকিবের বোলিংয়েরও উন্নতি হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন তিনি।

Although Saqline wants to work permanently with the Bangladesh team, BCB is hesitant about it, they want to keep Saqline working on a contractual basis. But if the Bangladesh team can literally show such success with New Zealand in October-November, maybe Saqline's wish will be fulfilled!
