Liz Truss is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

He was born on July 26, 1975 in Oxford, England to John Kenneth and Priscilla Mary Truss. From childhood she was better known as Elizabeth. His father was a professor of mathematics at Leeds University. His mother was also a teacher. When Truss was only four years old, his family moved to Scotland.

Liz Truss studied at Merton College, Oxford. He was active in the Liberal Democrats at that time. Liz Truss was President of Oxford University Liberal Democrats and a member of the National Executive Committee of Liberal Democrat Youth and Students. However, after graduation in 1996, he joined the Conservative Party.

Born into a left-wing family, Truss was originally a Liberal Democrat. However, in 2010, he was elected as an MP from the Conservative Party. Truss has always been against Brexit. But when the British voted for Brexit, he quickly became a staunch supporter of Brexit. Then when the Brexit process was completed, then Prime Minister Boris Johnson appointed Liz Truss to head the delegation to negotiate a free trade deal. Then last year Liz Truss got the responsibility of foreign minister.

Liz Truss has also been compared to Margaret Thatcher, the first female British Prime Minister, because of the clothes she wears and the locations she chooses to photograph, such as taking pictures in a tank in Estonia and wearing a fur hat in Moscow. Truss is also known to be a harsh critic of Russia on the Ukraine issue.

It should be noted that due to several scandals, Boris Johnson was forced to step down from the post of Prime Minister last July. Then the process of electing a new leader of the Conservative Party began. Voting was held till last Friday (September 2). And the voters were about 200,000 members of the Conservative Party. Trus defeated former finance minister Rishi Sunak in that vote. Had Rishi Sunak won, he would have become Britain's first non-white Prime Minister. The total voter turnout was 82.6 percent. Truss received 81,326 votes. And Rishi Sunak got 60,399.
