A survey conducted by YouGov found that a fifth of Britons want to see an elected head of state. When Queen Elizabeth died, she had about 75 percent of people's support. King Charles III is nowhere near Queen Elizabeth in terms of popularity. Popularity can increase only after political leaders come to power. In the case of King Charles, it will depend on how he is not running the royal family.
Constitutional expert Professor Vernon Bogdanor believes that this is a whole different responsibility, a different set of rules.
