The Dhaka Times Desk GIZ organized a two-day training workshop on SDG localization tools and methods for NILG trainers at Gazipur.
A two-day training program was organized for trainers of the National Institute of Local Government (NILG) to develop Master Trainers on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This residential training workshop was held at Sarah Resort, Gazipur with the support of 'Improved Coordination of International Climate Finance' (ICICF) project implemented by GIZ.
Trainers of NILG along with representatives of Governance Innovation Unit (GIU) of Prime Minister's Office recently participated in a workshop titled 'Tools and Methods in SDG Localization - Training of Trainers of NILG' conducted by national and international experts.
Growing urban areas play an important role as drivers of economic growth in the country. However, a large section of the urban population is deprived of access to essential civic amenities. Like many other countries in the world, Bangladesh has adopted climate change policies and strategies and other necessary policies, strategies and plans to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. However, the implementation of this plan requires capacity building and participation of local level stakeholders.
GIZ is working in collaboration with NILG on capacity building of local government officials. Through which the NILG will help in localizing the SDGs to build the capacity of city corporation, municipal and union level officials at the local level of the country. BUET and European experts developed training modules and trained NILG officials on SDG localization at city and regional levels. The objective of this training program was to develop practice-based training skills and teach hands-on application of the training modules to NILG officials.
The training workshop concludes with the awarding of certificates to the participants. This model training framework will be used for future training of local government officials. News bulletins.
