The Dhaka Times Desk At least 3 people have been reported dead after a bridge collapsed during traffic in the northern Brazilian state of Amazonas.
About 15 people are still missing in that incident. Qatar-based news media Al-Jazeera reported this information citing firemen and local media.
A concrete bridge collapsed on the BR-319 highway in Keriro, a town about 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of the provincial capital Manaus, Al Jazeera reported. The Amazonas Fire Department said on Wednesday (September 28) that they were looking for more than a dozen missing people in the incident.
Officials said some vehicles were crossing the bridge when it collapsed. 14 people were injured. The central part of the bridge broke and completely fell into the water. Some vehicles, including a white truck, plunged into the river.
According to local media, a crack had already developed in the bridge, caused by traffic jams before the collapse.
