'Two-thirds of Americans reluctant to take new booster dose'

Only one-third of adults who took part in the survey said they had already received information about the new booster dose and planned to take it. A team from Moderna and Pfizer-BioEntech plans to develop bivalent boosters, which would be active against BA.5 and BN.4 Omicrons.

Last August, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved this booster dose of Pfizer and Moderna. The survey found that 18 percent of citizens said they would wait and see if they would actually receive the new booster dose. While 10 percent felt that they would take it if necessary. 12 percent of US citizens say they don't want to take it. 27 percent said they were not suitable for this booster dose. Because none of their vaccinations are complete. According to data released by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last Thursday, 7.6 million people took the new booster dose within the first four weeks of its arrival. This figure is 3.5 percent of the country's more than 21 crore people. This also applies to those above the age of 12; This is because they have completed the initial dose.

The data of this survey also shows that the awareness about the new vaccine is very low. Just over half of adults say they've heard something about boosters. 40 percent of fully vaccinated adults said they were still unsure if a new booster dose was recommended for them. Whereas the DSDC recommends that all persons 12 years of age or older be fully immunized.
