Cyclone Sitrang: Many houses destroyed, loss of life 10

The Dhaka Times Desk Many houses were destroyed after Cyclone Sitrang crossed the coast of Bangladesh and entered the territory. According to the latest news, at least 10 lives have been lost.

Sitrang's tip hit the coast on Monday (October 24) at 6 pm and the main center at 9 pm. The center of the cyclone has passed over Bhola.

Due to the impact of the storm, most of the Chittagong and Barisal divisions experienced strong winds and heavy rains. Rivers in 15 coastal districts have flowed 3 to 5 feet higher than normal.

Due to the impact of the cyclone, 3 people were killed in Comilla, 2 people in Bhola, 2 people in Sirajganj, 1 person each in Shariatpur, Narail and Barguna until Monday night.

Meanwhile, a rickshaw driver died after a brick fell from the roof of a building due to strong winds in the capital Dhaka last night.

Under the influence of Sitrang, there is heavy to very heavy rain across the country including Barisal, Chittagong coast of the country. Barisal alone recorded 352 mm of rain till 6 pm on Monday. Which is the highest rainfall of this season. Moreover, 294 mm rain was recorded in Patuakhali, 219 mm in Mongla and 187 mm in Khulna.

The capital received 129 mm of rain from morning to night. Due to this heavy rain, most of the roads in the capital have accumulated water and caused great suffering. But today (Tuesday) there is no rain since morning. The sky seems a little clearer.
