His family said that after the first Janaza of Mirpur Akbar in Dhaka, the body will be taken to his village Sujalpur in Jessore. He will be cremated next to his mother's grave in Karbala cemetery after Baad Esha Janaza.

Akbar was suffering from various physical complications including diabetes, jaundice, kidney, blood inflammation for two years. As both kidneys failed, his right leg was damaged due to accumulation of water in his body. His leg was surgically amputated two weeks ago. His kidney and liver problems worsened after his leg was amputated.

As his physical condition worsened, he was admitted to Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital (Bardem) in the capital on November 5 at noon. He was then taken to the ICU in the early hours of November 9 in a critical condition. In the end, he left from there to the land of no return.

It is to be noted that Akbar, a rickshaw puller by profession, created a stir by singing the song 'Ekdin Pakhi Ude Gai Je Akash' in BTV's popular magazine program 'Etiyadi' a century and a half ago. But that song changed his life. Akbar stopped pedaling the rickshaw on the road and concentrated on singing. Then he sings 'Toma Haat Pakhar Bawatse'. It is also very popular.
