9 students of the country won the 'Top in the World' award in the Cambridge International Examination held in June 2022.

The Dhaka Times Desk 9 meritorious students from Bangladesh received the 'Top in the World' award of Cambridge Assessment International Education (Cambridge International) for their outstanding academic performance in the Cambridge examination series held in June this year.

On this occasion, outstanding academic achievements of school students across the country were recognized at an award distribution ceremony at the International Convention City located in Bashundhara of the capital on December 9. The event was jointly organized by Cambridge International and British Council, Bangladesh.

Cambridge International has awarded 90 Cambridge Learners Awards as a result of the extraordinary achievements of Bangladeshi students. The best students of more than 40 countries are given this global award. The world's leading universities and institutions also consider this recognition important.

71 students from Bangladesh won the prestigious Cambridge Learners Award for outstanding performance in Cambridge examinations. These awards are given in 4 categories; Namely: Top in the World, Top in Country, High Achievement Award and Best Across. Out of which 9 students of Bangladesh won the Top in the World Award for being able to achieve the highest marks in the world in a specific subject. 7 of the 9 winners received this recognition for outstanding achievement in mathematics. Students achieve this award in different subjects of Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge 'O' Level, Cambridge International AS and 'A' Level qualifications.

Architect Yafes Osman, Honorable Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Bangladesh, was present as the chief guest in this prize distribution ceremony. British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson was the special guest on the occasion. David Knox, Acting Director of British Council, Lee Davies, Director of Teaching and Learning, Cambridge International, Junaid Ahmed, Director of Exam Operations, British Council, and Shaheen Reza, Country Manager, Cambridge International were also present on the occasion.

On the occasion, Hon'ble Minister of Science and Technology, Architect Yafes Osman said, “My congratulations to all the awardees for their outstanding results. This is a remarkable achievement. Your success in Cambridge exams is a testament to hard work and your ability to compete on a global level. Congratulations again to all. I believe, by achieving this Cambridge exam, any one of you will go to the top universities in the world and contribute to the global level in the future. But one thing I want to remind you is that we got freedom at the cost of 3 million martyrs. Therefore, the responsibility you have towards the motherland must not be forgotten. You should always be proud. Thank you to Cambridge and the British Council for inviting me to today's event. Congratulations again to all the winners who have achieved outstanding results.”

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson said, “It is a great pleasure for me to be present on the stage of the Cambridge International Education Outstanding Learners' event. It is also remarkable to witness that the students have achieved global recognition of excellence. This proves once again that there are talented students in Bangladesh and they have efforts to achieve success. This is an important issue in the overall relationship between UK and Bangladesh. Historically, Bangladesh and UK have a strong relationship in all fields including education-culture and economy-trade. There are over 600,000 Bangladeshis in the UK, who continue to contribute to the betterment of society. I think education is at the root of everything in this regard. Then, as you think about your next steps in life and education, I hope you will consider the UK. Because, as High Commissioner, I am most pleased because the number of Bangladeshi students in the UK has doubled during this time."

Commenting on the matter, Lee Davies, Director of Teaching and Learning at Cambridge International said, “We congratulate the awardees for their outstanding efforts. We are all delighted with their excellent performance. In addition to doing well in STEM subjects, students did extremely well in accounting, English, art and design.”

He further said that, “Cambridge Education helps schools to develop their students to be confident, responsible, innovative and thoughtful. Also, we would like to thank all the teachers and parents for helping students achieve knowledge and success.” News bulletins.

Things to do to prevent Corona virus

Those who have dry hands use Moisture after washing their hands. Soap or hand liquid can be used. Why can this virus remain in the crackle (cracked part) of dry hands? Avoid using highly alkaline soaps or detergents.
