According to a report by Al Jazeera, the boat carrying Rohingyas is located in Indian waters in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It has about 200 Rohingya including women and children. The captain of the boat told Mohammad Khan Rejuan, who is staying at the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar, over the phone on Sunday that we are dying. Mohammad Khan Rejuan told an Indian media outlet that 3 people already on the boat had died of dehydration and starvation. The situation is very bad. They have no food or water.
Lawmakers in several Southeast Asian countries on Tuesday called on the Association for Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other countries in the region to meet human rights obligations and rescue those on board. The ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) said in a statement that a boat full of men, women and children are floating in extremely dangerous conditions. Despising these people is nothing but an insult to humanity. The boat is believed to have left Bangladesh for Malaysia in late November. However, it has been floating in the sea since December 1 after the engine failed.
