Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 11.73 km Diabari-Agargaon section of the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (MRT-6) line of Metrorail today.
Metrorail is the second largest communication project in Bangladesh after Padma Bridge, the country's largest project. The first phase will be inaugurated today till Agargaon. In the second phase up to Motijheel and in the third phase complete metro rail will be opened up to Kamalapur railway station by 2025. Dhaka Mass Transit Company (DMTL) has taken the plan to run the country's first metro rail with women drivers. Among them, Maryam Afiza is sitting in the driver's seat on the opening day itself. Centering on the inauguration of the metro rail, the entire metro rail area is decorated like a dress. A tight security system has been beefed up. The police administration has already given 7-point instructions to the residents around the metro rail route. To implement which is being checked from house to house. According to Dhaka Metropolitan Police DMP sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will reach Uttara Diabari Metrorail inauguration site by road from Ganobhaban. At the end of the event, when he will come to Agargaon by metro rail from Uttara station, the road under the metro rail will also be closed. It has been informed that traffic on the road below the metro rail will be completely closed until the Prime Minister leaves Agargaon station from Uttara.
This metro rail will run from Uttara to Agargaon. The authorities have decided that the metro rail will take only 10 minutes and 10 seconds to cover this 11.73 km stretch. In Dhaka, the city of traffic congestion, such a fast travel will give relief to the people of Dhaka than buses or other vehicles. Initially, the metro rail will run from 8 am to 12 pm. At present, trains do not stop midway while running from Uttara to Agargaon. But later (by March) the Metrorail will stop at all the intermediate stations.
The inauguration will be held today at 11 am at the playground of Block C-1, Sector 15, Uttara. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the inauguration. After the inauguration ceremony i.e. speaking at a rally, the Prime Minister will travel to Agargaon railway station by buying a ticket as the first passenger of the metro rail. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will come to Uttara North Station from the rally venue. Metrorail will leave from there. First, the Prime Minister will visit the main plaque there and plant trees in the station premises. Then the Prime Minister will go to the platform after buying the permanent card and paying the fare. There, the Prime Minister will wave the green flag on the waiting train to signal the movement. Then the Prime Minister will come to Agargaon station by metro rail. The Metrorail can accommodate around 200 guests on its inaugural journey. Metro rail will start passenger transport from tomorrow (December 29).
It should be noted that if this metro rail is launched up to Motijheel, it will play a major role in reducing traffic congestion in the capital Dhaka. The dream that the residents of the capital have been dreaming of for a long time to walk on a traffic-free road is going to be fulfilled today.
