The Dhaka Times Desk Millions of worshipers raised their hands with tearful voices at the edge of Ijtema hoping to gain the presence of the great Creator; The first phase of Biswa Ijtema ended with prayers for forgiveness of sins, protection from all troubles, and prayers for mercy and Amin Amin.
Today's (Sunday) Akheri prayer was led by Maulana Kakkari, member of Tabligh Jamaat and top leader of Kakrail Markaz. Zobair Hasan. Many worshipers were seen breaking down in tears during the 20-minute prayer that started at 10 am.
Devotees thronged the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway before dawn to take part in the last prayer. The distance from Bhogra bypass to Ijtema field is about 15 km. Pilgrims walk all this way to the Ijtema ground to participate in the final prayer.
Thousands of worshipers set out on foot for Maidan soon after dawn to participate in Ijtema Akhiri Monza. Among them, one or two minibuses, pickups, autorickshaws were seen suddenly, but they had to move slowly because of the worshippers.
There are participants in the World Ijtema, but religious pilgrims from different parts of the country kept coming from yesterday (Saturday) to participate in the last prayer. They arrived in Tongi by bus, truck, minibus, car, microbus, launch, train and steamer and started taking up their positions. People from the capital and neighboring areas ignored the cold, fog and various disturbances to avoid the crowd and many appeared at night. Millions of people had to walk a long way to reach Tongi as all traffic towards Tongi was stopped from early morning today (Sunday). Many people have taken up positions in nearby houses, buildings, roofs of buildings or corridors, sidewalks and even trees. By 8 am the whole area turned into a sea of people.
The formal proceedings of the first phase of the Ijtema began on Friday (January 13) after Fajr with the Am Bayan of Pakistan's Maulana Ziaul Haque. After a break of four days, the second phase of Biswa Ijtema will start again next Friday (January 20). Next Sunday (January 22) the second phase and the Biswa Ijtema will conclude for this year with the last prayer at the first hour.
