Using blocks instead of terracotta bricks to protect the country's environment

The Dhaka Times Desk By using concrete blocks instead of the widely used terracotta bricks in the construction of housing and development projects, it is possible to reduce the environmental damage to a large extent along with reducing the cost by 30 percent.

To implement the government's plan to reduce the use of terracotta bricks to zero quota by 2025, increasing the use of blocks instead of bricks is essential.

For this purpose the country's leading industrial company Mir Group has supplied eco-friendly concrete blocks for the construction of the newly launched Metrorail.

In order to reduce the harmful impact of construction on the environment, the government is encouraging to reduce the use of bricks in developmental works including mega projects.

Mir Group has supplied Uni-Pavers and Curb-Stone Blocks to Metrorail's Main Depot and Cable Drum Store area located at Diabari, Uttara, Capital Dhaka. The company supplied more than 75 percent of the blocks used in the depot.

Naba E Zaheer, Managing Director of Mir Group said, “We feel satisfied to help meet the government's targets. We are very happy to supply eco-friendly concrete blocks to dream projects like Metrorail. We hope to apply the knowledge gained from working experience in Metrorail to other projects and contribute to sustainable development.”

It is possible to insert electrical cables and sanitary pipes into concrete blocks without drilling into the main structure of the construction. Concrete blocks are fire resistant and do not suffer from problems like dampness, fungus and salinity. Besides, these blocks of artistic design are very strong and durable.
