Much awaited 3G auction completed: 3G connectivity in Dhaka by October itself

The auction was organized by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) at the Rupsi Bangla Hotel ballroom in the capital on Sunday morning and the country's private mobile operators Grameenphone, Banglalink, Airtel and Robi participated in it. Another private mobile operator Citycell did not participate in the auction.

Under the government's revised 3G license policy, 4 private mobile service providers can get operator licenses, so a total of four operators participated in the auction and all four operators got 3G licenses. On the other hand, the government organization Teletalk has already been providing 3G services. As a result, getting their license was already decided.

Grameenphone The highest package of waves bought 10 megahertz waves for 210 million dollars! On the other hand, the remaining three operators, Banglalink, Airtel And ravi Each received a 5 MHz wave package for $105 million.

BTRC was able to auction 35 MHz of spectrum to five operators for a total of $735 million!

According to BTRC sources, mobile service providers will get the opportunity to upgrade to 4G as per their wish. This will not require new policies or licenses. On the other hand, Grameen Phone said they will launch commercial 3G services at least in Dhaka city by the end of October.

Meanwhile, 60% of the wave price purchased in the auction must be paid to all mobile operators by October 8 and the remaining amount must be paid within the next 180 days.

This auction of the country's 3-G license is the highest auction in the country in terms of money. Before this, no auction of such huge amount has been held in the country.
