The Dhaka Times Desk The first batch of painters of the program graduated from National Skill Development Authority (NSDA) recognized Berger's Painters Training Institute (PTI).
On this occasion, a training camp was recently organized at Berger PTI located in Tejgaon of the capital. The graduating painters will get job opportunities in the country and outside the country by utilizing the skills gained from this training.
The training included: month-long classes and written, oral and practical tests and assessments to make the painters' skills relevant to the international labor market. As the painters are directly trained and certified through this training, this training will also expand their employment opportunities. PTI is an NSDA recognized institution.
It should be noted that Berger is the only company in the paints sector who is working in collaboration with NSDA. 20 people participated in the training program, out of which 15 were able to complete the training as certified painters. As a first batch painter, they obtained the Level 2 Certificate of Government Authority from PTI, Berger. So far more than 6 thousand painters have received training and certificates from PTI.
The main objectives of NSDA's training and certification are to: improve worker skills and quality of work, ensure accurate work, increase product knowledge, improve communication skills, and ensure that policies and compliance are adhered to in the workplace. By acquiring these skills, painters will be able to prepare themselves according to the labor market demands of the country and abroad.
Besides playing a role as a knowledge hub in the paint and decoration sector, Berger has taken this initiative to enhance the skills of painters by ensuring necessary training in this sector.
Also, the organization plans to add more subjects to the PTI and NSDA certifications in the areas of professional responsibility and values. These include: lacquer polishing for the furniture sector, car painting, high-build industrial coatings, marine coatings and powder coatings.
Berger's initiative will play an important role in enhancing the skills of painters, which will also contribute to improving their quality of life. Berger is the first company to undertake this training initiative in partnership with government agencies to develop skilled manpower in the paint sector. This training will also contribute to the quality of life of the graduating painters and their family members. With 15 painters certified in the first batch of the program, Berger aims to increase the number of graduate painters by continuing the program.
The organization believes that, inspired by this initiative, others related to this sector will also come forward to develop skilled human resources in order to achieve the goal of skill development.
