The Dhaka Times Desk Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass and Tourism Minister Ahmed Issa announced the discovery of new chambers hidden in the Great Pyramid. Scientists from the ScanPyramids project are credited with the discovery.
On Thursday (March 2), Egyptian antiquities authorities announced the discovery of a hidden corridor inside the 4,500-year-old Khufu pyramid, Deutsche Welle reported. It was formerly known as the Pyramid of Cheops or the Great Pyramid.
An international team of archaeologists used high-tech equipment to uncover the Silk Chamber above the entrance to Khufu's pyramid. They also hope to discover more such chambers. Egypt's wonder of civilization!
Scientists said that the 9 meter long and 2 meter wide chamber cannot be entered from outside. They are also trying to understand what is inside by making small holes and taking pictures of the inside. They have no idea why this chamber was created.
At the end of the chamber are two large limestone blocks, said Christoph Grosz, lead member of the ScanPyramids project. Now the question is, what is behind those stones and under the chamber? This expert from the Technical University of Munich hopes to uncover a lot of hidden information as well.
Note that the Khufu Pyramid is located just outside of Cairo. The Khufu Pyramid is named after the Pharaoh, who reigned from 2509 to 2483 BC.
