The Dhaka Times Desk International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide today. The theme of this day was 'Digital technology and innovation, gender discrimination will be eliminated'.
International Women's Day was celebrated globally on Wednesday (March 8) with this theme in mind. The day is celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries of the world.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages. In the message, they wished and congratulated all the women of the world. The President also called upon all men and women to work together to build a digital Bangladesh.
On the occasion of Women's Day, various institutions and organizations have undertaken various programs at the government and private levels. Ministry of Women and Child Affairs organized a procession at 2.30 pm on this occasion. The procession starts from the central Shaheed Minar and ends at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy premises. According to the relevant sources of the ministry, due to the official holiday on Wednesday on the occasion of the holy Sabbath, the seminar scheduled this year will be held later.
In a press release of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (March 7), it was informed that the National Front Social Resistance Committee of the organizations associated with the women's movement in Bangladesh organized processions, gatherings and cultural events. It will be held at Central Shaheed Minar on Thursday 9 March 2023 at 2.30 PM. This year's theme of the International Women's Day is 'Digital World for All: We need non-discriminatory creative technologies with a humane perspective to protect women's rights and combat violence'.
On the occasion of this day, Health and Hope Hospital organized free 'Breast and Cervical Cancer' examination and awareness talk program for women. It was held at Health and Hope Hospital in Panthapath on Wednesday from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
Also, the National Press Club is organizing a special discussion on the occasion of International Women's Day. This discussion meeting will be held at Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Hall of Jatiya Press Club on Thursday, March 9 at 3 pm.
