The Dhaka Times Desk A decision has been taken to suspend the membership of former General Secretary Zayed Khan from the Bangladesh Film Artists Association.
The joint general secretary of the organization Simon Sadiq announced the decision through an official press briefing yesterday Sunday (April 2) around 4:30 pm.
Simon Sadiq said, today is the 9th meeting of our executive committee. It was unanimously decided that the membership of our honorable member Zayed Khan was suspended in the light of Article 7 (a) of the constitution of the association.
Simon Sadiq said that this action has been taken against Zayed Khan for making indecent comments against the president and general secretary of Film Artists Association.
Meanwhile, 113 deprived artists formed a human chain and marched at FDC yesterday (Sunday) afternoon to demand the dismissal of Zayed Khan. This time they also demanded Zayed Khan's permanent expulsion from the Film Artists Association.
The meeting of the artists association started at half past two in the afternoon. Decisions like suspension of Zayed Khan's membership came up for discussion in this meeting. After the meeting ended at 4:15 pm, the decision of the artists association was officially informed to the media.
However, various news media have also revealed that the file is awaiting the decision of the advisory committee to cancel the membership.
