BASIS urges Japanese businessmen to invest in Bangladesh in information technology sector

The Dhaka Times Desk Referring to the rapid growth of Bangladesh's information technology sector, Basis president Russell T Ahmed has urged Japanese information technology businessmen to invest in Bangladesh.

He made this call at a seminar titled 'Digital Bangladesh: Your IT Destination' at the Japan IT Week 2023 held at the Tokyo Big Site in Japan on Wednesday (April 5).

At this time Basis president Russell T Ahmed said, “Bangladesh is the next destination for investors in the field of information technology. Bangladeshi IT companies are capable of providing products and services as per any international demand. Bangladesh's success in the international software and app market is also enviable. By 2041, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision of Smart Bangladesh is on the right track and BASIS is working as a partner to the government. One of the main objectives of the BASIS is to create up-to-date skilled human resources to know how to use technology for economic development in the implementation of "Smart Bangladesh".

He further said, “Basis has been working for several years to explore Japan's IT market and facilitate Japanese investment in Bangladesh in building a smart Bangladesh and real development of the Information and Communication Technology sector. Bangladesh's fast-paced IT or ITES sector is poised to open up new opportunities for Japanese ICT entrepreneurs and investors. There is a deep sense of brotherhood between Japan and Bangladesh. In the field of information technology, Bangladesh has skilled manpower and Japan has advanced information technology. In this regard, I hope that both countries will benefit if Bangladesh and Japan work together to make maximum use of the expertise of both countries."

BASIS Director AKM Ahmadul Islam Babu presented the main paper in the seminar. He said, “Bangladeshi IT companies participating in Japan IT Week have received a good response in the last few years. The Basis Japan Desk is always ready for all possible cooperation to strengthen the bilateral trade relations between the two countries.”

Moreover, Ariful Haque, Commercial Counselor of Bangladesh Embassy in Japan presented the article. Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed gave a welcome speech at the seminar.

A delegation of 27 members from 15 information technology companies participated in the Japan IT Week Basis held at the Tokyobig site in Japan on April 5-7, 2023, which is known as the meeting place for IT professionals in Asia. The delegation is led by BASIS President Russell T
Ahmed.

This time, 11 information technology companies that are members of the Japan IT Week Basis will display their services at the Bangladesh Pavilion. The organizations are: Leadsoft Bangladesh Limited, Nasenia, Brain Station 23, Kawai Advanced Technology and Solutions Limited, BJIT Limited, DreamOnline Limited, Atrabit ICT Solutions, Edusoft Consultants Limited, E-Trucker Solutions, Deshlink Limited and Exid Bangladesh Limited.

4 member institutions of BASIS are participating as visitors. They are: Link Vision Software Solutions, Arclight Systems Limited, Triangle Services Limited and Pollux Technology Solutions.
BASIS members participating in Japan IT Week will participate in various conferences, seminars, workshops and B2B meetings to expand business with different countries. The fair will highlight the capabilities of the IT sector in Bangladesh by informing BASIS members about the services and branding the IT sector of Bangladesh. Besides, this fair will play an important role in creating a bond between investors and IT professionals.

Note that Japan is a strong economic power in the field of science and technology and every year they organize a mega convention called Japan IT Week to promote trade and innovation in the field of technology.
