Railway Director General Kamrul Ahsan confirmed the matter to the media at 10 pm on Sunday (April 16).
At this time, he said, it will not be possible to rescue the train and fix it within the night. So it has been decided to cancel the journey of this train tomorrow (today). This train will run next Wednesday.
The Railway Director General said that there was no schedule of the train on that day. As a special consideration, passengers on that day (Monday) can travel on the same train ticket on Wednesday. But those who will not go on this train on Wednesday, they can return the tickets online tomorrow (today Monday).
It may be noted that 7 coaches of the Sonar Bangla Express train derailed yesterday (Sunday) due to a collision between a passenger and freight train in Langalkot Upazila of Comilla. More than half a hundred were injured in this incident. After this incident, railway communication with Chittagong was stopped.
Yesterday Sunday (April 16) this accident happened at Hasanpur railway station of upazila at 7:20 pm. Due to this accident, railway communication on Dhaka-Chittagong route was stopped. Several coaches were derailed and twisted.
