Berger will take a loan of 60 million US dollars to ensure uninterrupted service

The Dhaka Times Desk Leading paint solutions brand Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited has announced that it will borrow USD 60 million from its UK-based parent J&N Investments (Asia) Limited.

This loan will be taken periodically as per the business requirement for opening the letter of credit for import of raw materials. Berger's board of directors has already approved the terms of the proposed loan agreement. Berger has now applied for approval from the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).

The interest rate and repayment period will be determined by the regulatory body during the approval process. Berger's chief financial officer Sajjad Rahim Chowdhury said, "There is a shortage of dollars in most banks now. Therefore, the decision to take the loan was predictable.” He further said, “We must have access to the raw materials we need to provide uninterrupted service to our valued customers. Moreover, this move is part of Berger's commitment to the country's foreign exchange reserves.”
