Imdad Khan, one of the injured police officers, told the Pakistani media The Dawn that the explosion happened inside the police station at around 8:20 p.m. local time on Monday. The site of the blast is home to the police counter-terrorism department building and a mosque.
Imdad Khan also said that 3 buildings collapsed in this incident. Then there was a fire. Stating that he was in the kitchen with some colleagues at the time of the incident, Imdad said he heard two explosions.
Police said many people were buried under the rubble. They were rescued and admitted to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital there. A state of emergency has also been declared in other nearby hospitals.
