Gauharshad Mosque is one of the most important and historical mosques in Iran. This mosque is located on the south side of Imam Reza's shrine.
This mosque was built in 1418 AD by Gauharshad Begum, daughter of Amir Ghiyasuddin Tarkhan, the famous righteous ruler of the Timurid period in Iran. Ghiyasuddin Tarkhan married his daughter to Shahrukh Mirza, the son of Amir Gorkani, the ruler of a neighboring area at that time. Amir Gorkani used to consult Gauharshad Begum, a noble woman and daughter-in-law in running the state. The name of this noble woman is recorded in at least two places in the Gauharshad Mosque.
This approximately square mosque has been built on an area of 2,850 square meters. There are 4 courtyards and 7 covered terraces. Apart from historical architectural monuments, the importance of this mosque has also increased manifold as it is built adjacent to the shrine of Imam Reza. All over the walls of the Gauharshad Jame Masjid, apart from the Attributes of Allah, the verses of the Holy Quran and the sayings of the Hadith are recorded. Source: https://www.shomoyeralo.com
