The Dhaka Times Desk India has set a world record by organizing the marriage of 4 thousand 286 people, that is, 2 thousand 143 couples, in one event!
On May 26, this public wedding ceremony took place in Baran area of Rajasthan, India. On this day, the participants set two new world records for the highest number of marriages in a span of 12 hours and 24 hours. Previously, in 2013, 963 couples got married in Yemen, which was the record for the highest number of marriages in 24 hours.
According to the information of Guinness World Records, both Hindu and Muslim weddings were organized at that ceremony in Rajasthan, India. The wedding ceremony was organized by an organization called Sri Mahavir Goshala Kalyan Sanstha. Basically, this program is organized with the aim of helping the underprivileged people of the society to get married.
According to an information, on the morning of May 26, the bride and groom began to gather at the appointed place located on the outskirts of Baran city. In less than 6 hours, all of them got married.
Priests of the respective communities are called to officiate the marriage of Hindu couples. And the marriages of the Muslims are taught by the Qazis from the surrounding areas. After all the rituals are completed, the government officials present at the venue issue the marriage certificate to each couple.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Union Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya were present on the occasion. The newlyweds receive gifts as well as blessings from them.
These gifts included jewelery for the bride, comfortable mattress, some kitchen utensils, television, refrigerator, cooler and an induction cooker.
After the wedding, there was a huge arrangement for the food of the newlyweds and the thousands of guests who came with them. All in all a grand event was organised.
